Fanupdate or Wordpress

Wordpress and Fanupdate, both very nice blogging systems, each with their pro's and cons. Here's my opinion on them.

Fanupdate

Unlike my other sites, here on Paper-Cranes, I use Fanupdate. I am really satisfied with Fanupdate for many reasons. I really like how it is very easy to manage. Posting entries are simple, and it works. The commenting form isn't the neatest, especially compared to Wordpress, but that can be easily fixed, I just haven't had the time to change it. Fanupdate is never a problem when I change layouts. I just make my layout how I normally do and I just change it as I would with php. Fanupdate doesn't get in the way at all. The only part I do not like with Fanupdate is that my comment pages are not valid xHTML. The main blog post is valid, but not the comment page. That isn't a big deal though. Some people also have trouble with writing blog posts. Sometimes they say that it doesn't post, so Fanupdate does have its kinks. Overall, I would give Fanupdate a 4 out of 5.

Wordpress

On my other sites if you noticed, I use the blogging system Wordpress. Wordpress has a nicer admin's page. It is more professional. It also has a harder password. Even though you can use whatever password you want, the one they create is a very strong password which is good for security purposes. I also like how the comment form is very neat. There is no bold, italic, or link button that messes up the look of your form like Fanupdate does. Though, I like how Fanupdate is so much easier when it comes to coding and adding layouts. In Wordpress, you have to change multiple things to create your own theme. I find it more time consuming. But I do love how Wordpress is all valid xHTML. Very appealing to me and many others. I also like how Wordpress has a lot of options to use for your site. From plugins, widgets and just the multiple template tags, the possibilities are endless! I would give Wordpress a 4.5 out of 5.

Overall

Overall, I believe that yes, Wordpress is more appealing, but it is more for advanced designers, while Fanupdate would be better for most designers. Easy to change layouts and works well. Though, if you work hard, Wordpress can be for anyone. I like both of them, though Wordpress is more secure and useful than Fanupdate.

This article is based on my opinion, it isn't meant to offend anyone.
